In the wake of the child abuse case surrounding Creflo Dollar, news broke earlier this week that gospel singer James Fortune and his wife are being sued for $5 million dollars by his stepson’s biological father.  The civil lawsuit comes as a result of an incident that happened back in 2001 where Fortune was said to have picked up the then 4-year-old preschooler from school, and when told that the child had misbehaved that day, allegedly became infuriated and there were events that led to the child being whipped while naked and then place in a bathtub of scalding hot water, that left the preschooler with 2nd/3rd degree burns to 47% of his body. More Here.

This news really shocked me and for a few days didn’t sit well with me either.  I will admit it took a good minute to see this from all sides.  Folks we need to pray.  We have to pray for each other because you never know who has gone through what!  Even our favorite artist who we think “got it all” have issues.  It was also a good reminder to not put artists, preachers and such on pedestals.  Fortune has since responded to the news of the pending lawsuit, you can check that out here.  I do pray that the truth, healing and restoration for all parties involved will come forth soon.  This is a very sad and unfortunate event in the lives of those involved.
