Artist Interview || Viktory Talks R4-Relentless 4Ever

After attending an event during Stellar Award weekend, my fanship for Viktory was rekindled.  Viktory hosted and performed and I saw his passion for spreading Gods Word and giving an audience good music, that you can not only rock with, but live by.  Viktory, a Stellar Award nominated artist, released his fifth album “R4-Relentless 4Ever” on April 17, 2012.  I Choose Gospel is honored to have been able to connect with Viktory to talk about the album.  So let’s get into this interview!

ICG: How has the response to “R4: Relentless 4Ever” been since its debut?

VIK: I’ve had the strongest response to this record over all of my previous albums. Both in sales and acclaim.

ICG: Since dropping your first album “Believe It Now” how have you grown/changed musically and spiritually?

VIK: I’ve grown into an experienced leader and much better artist. I’ve learned how to use my voice in new and unique ways. I’ve always learned to relax more as a person without compromising my intensity as a Spiritual Leader. I’ve learned how to create music that communicates feeling and emotion in addition to lyricism.

ICG: What are your expectations for “R4″ and what do you want the listener to come away with after listening?

VIIK: I want people to come away inspired. Ready to continue, begin, or return to what God has called them to, with passion and focus.

ICG: This album has some great features on it, are there any artists that you haven’t worked with that you would like to in the future?

VIK: Lecrae & Flame are two artists I’d like to work with because they’ve grown into pillars of our community. I would also like to work more with Geeda and Transparent.

ICG: You really experimented with different sounds and production elements on this album, even down to which artist you would collaborate with, What was the inspiration for such creativity?

VIK: I’ve wanted to do this for a while. I started branching out on Birth of a Legacy. I’m curious about all types of music and don’t like the idea of creating the same thing twice. So I like to keep pushing in new directions to keep things interesting.

ICG: In R4 you let us know that, this isn’t a movement or the next hottest thing, but this is a life style; why do you feel R4 is important to Hip Hop/CHH?

VIK: I think CHH/Hip Hop needs to be told what they CAN do. What God WILL support. How God supports it, that it’s trust worthy. CHH is a young genre, and the content is young. I want to bring something for those that are looking to be leaders and go past the status quo. But I may have been wrong, it’s turning into a movement. :)

ICG: Which song on “R4″ is most personal to you?

VIK: I can’t really pick one song. But the songs that I’d classify as personal to me right away are “Light of Life (the hook),” “Broken Promises” and “Go With Me.”

ICG: What’s next for Viktory, tours, concerts etc.?

VIK: Everything! We’re releasing the #R4 Audio Book this summer. Shortly after that I’ll be releasing #R4 extended with remixes and new music. A free mix tape shortly after that, then a new album next year around summer. We’re also in talks with some very talented artists. VMG (Viktorious Music Group) is looking to expand into a full service label in 3rd/4th quarter of 2012. Lots coming down the pipeline!

There you have it folks! I want to thank Viktory and his team for taking the time out to do this for me!  Make sure you pick up “R4-Relentless 4Ever” available now on iTunes and Amazon.com.  Connect with Viktory via Twitter: @ViktoryR4 | Website: VikLife.com | Facebook: ViktoryLive
